It is a member of the mustard family Crotons and grows in the southern part of the United States, especially in the Deep South. The Crassula Tom Thumb plant is native to Tennessee and Alabama but has spread around the rest of the country. It is now a very popular ornamental plant.
• The Crassula Tom Thumb plant has several species, including the Carolina Crassula, the American Cracula, and the North American Crassula. All of these varieties have very similar characteristics. Their leaves are long, gray and have dark green spots on them. The stems are also long, gray, and have dark green, purplish colored leaves.
• The Crassula Tom Thumb is often confused with the Black-eyed Susan, which has very short, gray leaves.
