Fittonia Snow Anne Uses:-
- Fittonia Snow Anne is a dwarf albino version of the original Florida white-water Angora plant. In its natural habitat, the fitteruna grows to about 4 inches tall. It has dark greyish coloured leaves with a light green stem and white flower that bloom during late summer and early fall.
- When I purchased this beautiful fitteruna plant from the local nursery, I did so because I wanted to grow it for display purposes at my home garden centre. The plant was an order of five and arrived pretty wet and dusty in a plastic pot with very little water. My wife tried to water it but the water dried out and cracked the leaf edge on the top of the pot. She then removed the entire plant from the pot and brought it back to our garden centre for us to try to recover it.
- After several weeks of drying out the plant, we finally got some sunshine which surprised the fitteruna plant. The leaves had become silvery looking and the stems began to wilt slightly. The leaves were very weak and thin. During this time of sun exposure, the plant did not produce any flowers or fruit. We decided that we would give the fitteruna plant about six more weeks of the warm sun but it did not need much.
Fittonia Snow Anne Health Benefits:-
- Fittonia is a family of beautiful flowering plants from the buttercup family, also in the acanthus family, native to the Amazon rainforest. It’s got a long history going back hundreds of years. The name itself, Fittonia, came from a Spanish verb meaning “a plant bearing fruit”, and refers to the large genus of palms, the Fittiano. In the 1820s, a Swedish doctor and botanist Carl Fitterer made a study of the Fittonia species. Fittonia wasn’t originally called Fittonia but “Pizani” which is why we know it by that name.
- Fittonia care comes with a whole lot of responsibilities. The plant can survive on either fresh or dry soil, can be grown in almost any condition except one where it is permanently wet, has a large root system and a highly developed rhizome (or leaf blade). The common types of flowers are blue, pink and white. The fruits have to be very tough to beat and can be pit or round, having a size between a coin and an orange.
Fittonia Snow Anne Properties:-
- Basically, when you plant Fittonia Snow Anne plant, the soil is prepared with peat moss and potting soil. When you water the plant, make sure to give it some water at least once. It will be best if you water it in the morning hours before it is likely to be sunny. This type of plant needs a lot of water, around one quart for every two to three feet of the plant. You can use an artificial pond for your Fittonia Snow Anne plant, which is more economical. The water should be given until the plant has developed roots.
- Keep in mind that Fittonia Snow Anne plant will bloom after around three to six weeks, depending on the amount of water it gets daily. When the blooming period starts, the plant will need a lot of sunlight? You can even plant it outside, but you have to make sure that it receives lots of suns, just like the rest of your garden.
- After the plant has grown to around two to three feet in height, it is ready for planting outdoors. Just be sure that it gets enough water. You can place it in a spot that receives morning sun but make sure that it gets around six hours of light from then on.
- You can train your Fittonia Snow Anne plant by keeping it in the sun for longer periods of time. But, do keep in mind that you need to provide an extra source of light for it to grow properly. You can do this by hanging a small cloth over the pot. That way, it can receive some sunlight even if it isn’t directly exposed to the sun.
